Biography

Dr Muhammad Mahmood Afzal has a globally recognised public health leader and health specialist. He is a medical doctor with specialization in health and hospital management. He has distinguished career as an international public health expert and manager spawning over three decades at national, regional and global levels. He retired from World Health Organization (WHO) Geneva, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, devotion and diligence with high levels of professionalism. He has many significant achievements and contributions on his role. Specially, he has the honour to introduce a number of pioneering approaches, initiatives and health solutions. Dr Afzal has the expertise in diverse areas like Health Leadership, Hospital Management, Health System Reforms and Policy Development, Health Workforce Development, Health Partnerships and Multisectoral Coordination. He is author and co-author of a numerous policy documents, number of professional books, guidelines, tools, training manuals, and research papers, many published globally. His visionary competence and understanding is continuously contributing towards health development is more open and independent mode as he has launched forward-looking ventures: “Polyversity International” for multidisciplinary human capital development, and “Global Health & Medical Complex” with a cluster of health development programs. Both projects are created on the motive of “Paying back to Motherland” and “preparing the future generations as productive Global Citizens equipped with 21st century competencies’. Dr Afzal is currently presenting at national and international forums, seminars and events imparting professional development lectures and short courses. The main intention is to embed and enrich contemporary competencies among various professional groups to enable them for coping with the oncoming challenges in this highly competitive world.
